Echizen Washi Paper is a beautiful and ancient Japanese hand-made paper. Originating from the Fukui Prefecture in Japan, Echizen Washi has been made by hand since before the 8th century. This strong, durable paper is laced with metallic fiber inclusions which catch the light and make this Washi paper sparkle. Echizen Washi is made in two layers, one providing a soft yet strong base. Then, a transparent overlay providing inclusions and pattern is overlaid on the base. Together, the layers provide a depth and appearance not seen in other papers.
