The silver flecked xuan paper is a renowned traditional Chinese paper celebrated for its exceptional ink absorption, smooth texture, and durability.  Also called Shuen or Xuan paper, these Chinese papers are made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree with long strands of kozo fiber. 

Xuan paper originated in ancient China during the Tang Dynasty and is named after the town of Xuancheng in Anhui Province and is also known as Yun-long or “dragon clouds” paper.

Naturally pH neutral and archival, this lightweight and smooth Chinese paper has a weight of 34 gsm and is unsized. Xuan archival paper handles water-based media beautifully with minimal bleeding and is ideal for traditional Asian painting styles like Sumi-e and Chinese brush painting or calligraphy. This golden xuan paper can also be used for mounting and printmaking, lanterns, kites and shoji screens.
