Ice is then packed around the balled up paper and pigmented ink is dropped onto the ice. As the ice melts, the ink fractures and the pigments flow with the melting water along the creases, edges and curves of the paper which absorbs the rich, vibrant colors. The created patterns are as beautiful as they are unpredictable.
