Japanese Chiyogami Paper with Flower Patterns
Stiking and intense color patterns with gold overlay are silkscreened by hand on our Japanese Chiyogami Paper, also known as Yuzen Washi Paper. Floral designs are the most prominent Chiyogami Yuzen Paper design, but other varieties such as patterns and cranes are popular. Each design is painstakingly crafted by across Japan. All of our Chiyogami Papers are hand-silkscreened with pigment-based inks providing a higher quality paper with more intense and fade-resistant colors than other offset printed papers.
The durability and strength of Yuzen Washi Paper is superb. Chiyogami Paper starts as a base sheet of high content Kozo. Each color is then silkscreened by hand onto the paper requiring considerable time as each color must fully dry before the next color is applied. A final layer of sparkling gold outlines the patterns, accentuating the regal beauty of the paper.
The uses for Chiyogami (Yuzen) Paper are endless. Originally used for paper dolls, decoration of tins and boxes, Yuzen Paper has now found its way into a variety of arts and crafts. Use it in:
