Mexican Amate Bark Papers

Natural Paper for Use in Design, Decor and Art Projects

Mexican Amate Bark Paper dates back to pre-Columbian times and is still handmade by indigenous Otomi artisans of central Mexico using the same methods of their Mesoamerican ancestors from nearly 3000 years ago. Amate Bark Paper has been used throughout the ages in religious and legal texts as well as a canvas for painting.

Each sheet of this traditional Mexican paper is handmade from the bark of Amate, Nettle, and Mulberry trees. The earth-tone fibers are perfectly blended together, resulting in a one-of-a-kind natural paper with a stunning aesthetic! Mexican Amate Bark Paper is acid-free and comes in a variety of bright and natural colors. The solid, non-woven papers are laser and ink-jet printer compatible.

Due to the hand-made nature of the paper and the use of natural bark, each sheet is unique and will vary in shade, color, weight and pattern. The available sheet sizes are approximate, due to the deckle edges and drying process.
